The War Has Begun (Part Three - Get Ready)

This is part 3 of 3 in the series called, “The War Has Begun.” If you have not already done so, please read the previous posts (Part 1 and Part 2) before continuing.

If you have examined yourself and are confident that you are a Genuine Convert, I encourage you to pray about embarking on a mission that is not for the faint of heart. The mission I talk about will go against the grain of what you have been taught about evangelism and outreach. In fact, it is really a matter of “in-reach” because this mission is to reach in to the false converts at churches and Christian events. God has laid a burden upon my heart for the false convert because they do not realize their eternal fate is Hell… and because I was one of them for 8 years.

On March 17, 2000, I attended a crusade and was told that I needed Jesus to “improve my life.” They told me to raise my hand and say a prayer. I thought that by doing this, I was saved… from what, they never mentioned. As I went on, I began to think that the prayer was an excuse to live however I wanted, because it got me into Heaven. I was dead wrong and God showed me the truth in February 2008. That cold winter morning, my wife and I decided to go to church for the first time in years. What we found was a bunch of “Christians” that believed the same thing as I did. It was a wakeup call from God that showed me that I was NOT saved. I realized that my life of sin (pornography, drinking, lying, etc.) had to change. I repented of (turned from) my sin and placed my trust in Jesus Christ (not a prayer) to save me from Hell.

America is inundated with the false gospel message and a fake Christianity. Essentially, we are guilty of breaking the 2^nd Commandment, “You must not make for yourself an idol… You must not bow down to them or worship them…” (Exodus 20:4-5). The modern “Christian” church has created a false idol that looks like Jesus, but is far from Him. The false Jesus says, “Come to me and I will grant all your wishes and not care that you do bad things.” Their false gospel message goes like this, “Do you want go to Heaven? Then say this prayer!” I do not have the space to explain why these two statements are false, but I encourage you to read “God Has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life: The Myth of the Modern Message” that will explain it better than I ever could. If God has put the burden on you to “reach in” to the false converts of the modern church, please prepare for a vicious battle with Satan and his demons. This is a battlefield and the enemy has plenty of weapons, so we need to gear up. There are 3 things we need before heading into a spiritual war.

Be in the Word of God, read the Holy Bible every day! How will we know what’s fake if we don’t know the real thing? Write His word upon your heart. If we're going to war, we need our weapon with us at all times! Prayer is our connection to God. Pray daily, and do it for more than 5 minutes while getting dressed. Focus on glorifying and praising God more than asking for stuff. In real battles, if the enemy cuts your communication lines, you are most likely going to lose the war. Find other real Christians that are ready and able to fight this battle with you. They will be hard to find but they are out there. Do NOT fight this battle alone! Satan has an army, and so should you!

What can you do, once prepared, to fight against this false Christianity? Firstly, remember to love as Christ loved you (See Ephesians 5:2, John 15:12). Do not attack people and demean them because that will harden their hearts towards the true Gospel. This will be similar to witnessing to cult members because you are challenging everything they have been taught about Christianity. There are many resources out there that talk about this topic that you can share with them. Our friends at The Lord's Kerux have a good start on some supplies. There are a few Gospel tracts out that touch on the subject of false conversion. These are good to have at Christian events to hand out. Above all, remember that many people claim to be Christian, but Jesus warned us that not everyone really is. Make sure of their salvation, even if it offends them. Do you care enough about them to make sure they aren't being misled... toward Hell?

“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’” (Matthew 7:21:23)
