Give Thanks... Why?

It's Thanksgiving! Time for the turkey, time for the football, time for the unbelievable shopping deals... With all this stuff going on, when will the time come to be thankful? I'm not the only person to have noticed that the world has taken a giant leap from Halloween to Christmas, without stopping to give thanks. I'm not trying to get caught up in a holiday celebration argument here, just wanted to point out that people are forgetting their blessings and striving to fulfill their wants and desires.

With all that said, are you thankful for what you have? Are you having trouble coming up with things to be thankful for? Many will state plainly, "What do I have to be thankful for," and they will honestly mean it because they can't think of anything. Others may think, "Who is it that I should be thanking since I provide for myself?" The answer to the second question is God. Give thanks to God... for EVERYTHING!

Did He allow you to wake up today? Were you granted another breath of air just now? Has God given you eyes to read this post or ears to hear someone read it to you? Christians should be the most thankful! God has decided to grant you the gift of eternal life? You didn't earn it! You couldn't buy it! You definitely don't deserve it! Yet, He gives it to you anyway and you can't come up with a single thing to be thankful for? Did you forget that you should spend an eternity in the lake of fire?!

In closing, we must never forget to show God our appreciation for life, eternal salvation, and everything else that He does. If He so pleases, God is able and justified to take everything away. I encourage you to read through some of the Psalms today, in preparation to give thanks for all that He has blessed you with... the turkey, the football, the shopping deals, and SO MUCH MORE! Praise be to the God that grants eternal life... and thank you!

 1 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
 2 Serve the LORD with gladness!
    Come into his presence with singing!

 3Know that the LORD, he is God!
   It is he who made us, and we are his;
   we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
   and his courts with praise!
   Give thanks to him; bless his name!

 5 For the LORD is good;
   his steadfast love endures forever,
   and his faithfulness to all generations.

- Psalm 100
