Tools of the Trade - Gospel Tracts

This week, I will be starting a new segment that will focus on the various tools that we use in our evangelistic endeavors. It is my prayer that these will be beneficial to those new to evangelism and for the veterans that may be seeking new instruments for Gospel proclamation.

Gospel Tracts
“If I don't have the opportunity to speak with someone about the Lord, a well-written tract can do the speaking for me” (Kirk Cameron, on the use of Gospel tracts).

Gospel tracts are an invaluable tool for every Christian. They present the Gospel when you don’t have the time, when you aren’t allowed, when you don’t know what to say, and even when you’re too scared to say anything at all! They come in all shapes, sizes, and messages for every occasion. Gospel tracts are relatively inexpensive and are incredibly easy to give away.

Not all Gospel tracts are good, however. There are many that only present one side of the story. “Hellfire” tracts only present the wickedness of sinners (Ex. Turn or burn) and “Fluff” tracts sound like bad greeting cards (Ex. God really, really, really loves you). The problem is that neither makes any sense without the other side of the story. Make sure that you only use tracts that share the Biblical message of salvation (Ex. Sin, Judgment, Hell, Repentance, AND God’s gift, Faith in Christ, etc.)

We get our tracts from numerous companies and highly recommend the following:

Living Waters Publications – A bit on the pricey side, but they were the originators of Biblical Evangelism in this century. They also produce “The Way of the Master” television show with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort.

One Million Tracts – They have a wide assortment of business card sized and dollar bill tracts.

Custom Tract Source – A plethora of options that are eye catching and imaginative.

Fellowship Tract League – The tracts here are free, but not as appealing to people. Also, some of their tracts are one-sided… read before ordering.

Bezeugen Tract Club – Sign up for this club and they’ll send you 30 free tracts every month. You can also order bulk amounts of these tracts from One Million Tracts.

Lastly, I want to provide a short message to encourage you in the use of Gospel tracts. It’s called “The Man on George Street” and is a real account of how God uses Gospel tracts. Please take the time to listen to this message and then get some tracts and proclaim the Gospel! May God bless you in abundance!
